Jill Soloway is an American writer, director, and showrunner. She is best known for creating the series Transparent, which she also serves as the showrunner, executive producer, writer and director. She has written for several shows in the past, most notably Six Feet Under. She has also served as the showrunner for United States of Tara and How to Make it in America.

Soloway is recognized for her commitment and contributions to the LGBTQ+ community for her series Transparent, which has hired over 80 transgender people. Both on and off the screen, the show has shifted the conversation surrounding transgender people. She has publicly advocated for LGBTQ+ rights and exposure, and uses her platform to elaborate on the necessity of diversity in television. She has worked with and raised funds for several organizations that support transgender rights.
